2nd Auriol space convention
Space technologies explained
The event aims to make space technologies accessible to everyone through fascinating exhibits and talks in a friendly environment.
The 2005 convention, the 2nd in the series, will focus on 2 highlights of this year’s space calendar: first the success of the European Huygens mission to Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, and then the Hubble Space Telescope’s 15th year in orbit.
Visitors will be able to admire a scale model of the Huygens probe and shield, as well as stunning photographs from Hubble.
Space activities by day and night
Other exhibits to inspire the imagination will include photographs taken by the Hubble Telescope and weather satellites.
The “night of the explorers” will take place on Saturday 23 July, with short films and talks running until midnight. Highlights include talks by Mark Polansky, a Nasa astronaut, and Jean-Pierre Lebreton, head of the Huygens mission at Esa. A lecture on 15 years of the Hubble Space Telescope will be illustrated by the short film about Hubble.
